YMCA Of Greater Hartford

Who We Are

The YMCA of Greater Hartford is a charitable association open to all and committed to helping people develop their fullest potential in spirit, mind and body. This commitment is reinforced by our belief in living out universal values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

The Y is made up of diverse people working side by side to strengthen our communities. Together, we work to ensure everyone, of any income, faith, ability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, race, ethnicity, national origin, cultural background or other unique personal characteristics, has the opportunity to live life to its fullest. We share the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility—which are the foundation for everything we do.

Our vision is three-fold:

  1. To put a caring adult in the presence of every child;
  2. To be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us; and
  3. To work in partnership with others to eliminate the disparities in health and education.

Our cause is to strengthen communities, committed every day to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Y volunteers contribute thousands of hours each year helping our community to learn, grow, and thrive. Being engaged in your community demonstrates caring for others and offers the opportunity to improve the lives of children, adults and families, thereby creating a caring society. Here at the Y, there are so many ways to get involved.

What We Do
